About

The short version: Hi, I'm Annelie, and I write books.

The long version:

I write psychological thrillers and dystopian fiction, and enjoy throwing morally grey heroines into impossible situations to watch disaster unfold.

My books have sold nearly a million copies worldwide in multiple languages, through both independent and traditional publishing; the German edition of my debut novel, "The Devil's Grin," won an award.

Before fiction, I worked mainly as a research scientist, was ranked among Germany's top scientists in marine and freshwater biology, and was awarded the "O.K. Earl Prize Fellowship" by Caltech, and the "Helmholtz Professorship for Promoting Excellent Women in Science" by the Helmholtz Association.

This science and fiction double life still shapes everything I write.

My clients include DCM Films, Penguin/Gotham, the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research, German Electron Synchroton - DESY, Max Planck Institute for Extra-Terrestrial Physics, Max Planck Institute for Astronomy, University Hamburg, and more.

If you're interested in a speaking engagement, writing workshops (creative or academic), or 1:1 coaching, feel free to drop me an email so we can discuss how I can best support you.
